Lightning Causes Cotton Plant Fire at Dothan Fire caused by lightning burned to the ground the plant of the Atlantic Compress Company at Dothan, Ala., recently, with its entire equipment and 2,781 bales of cotton. The building was of frame construction and occupied about four acres in the eastern part of the city. Only the night watchman was on the premises when the lightning struck. He was stunned by the shock and before. he could get to the south side of the building, which was the only open side, the fire was all over the building. The alarm was telephoned at 7.24 P. M., and five minutes afterwards the roof caved in. Chief C. J. Barber responded with fourteen men and one American-La France motor triple combination wagon.
