Canning Plant Destroyed by Fire at Kokomo The plant of the Kokomo Canning Company, just southwest of the city limits of Kokomo, Ind., and occupying an entire block on 60-foot street, was burned to the ground recently. The building was a 2-story wood and brick structure and brick partition walls. The fire started in the central part of the building and was discovered by a night watchman about 2 a. m. The cause was not discovered. An alarm was sent in by telephone. The fire had gained such headway that when the department arrived the roof of the frame part had fallen in and fire was all over the plant. Chief Edward Shauman responded and summoned in all 18 men with two American-La France hose wagons and 2,000 feet of cotton rubber-lined hose with 1-inch nozzles.
