FIRE DEPARTMENT DOINGS The West New York, N. J., Exempt Firemen’s Association recently organized a band of twenty-five pieces. The Firemen’s Relief Association of Erie, Pa., held a ball recently which netted the association $1,912.20. Expenses of the ball amounted to $150. The glass-making plant of the Bausch & Lamb Optical Company, Rochester, N. Y., was destroyed by fire November 19 with an estimated loss of $25,000. A training tower for firemen has been practically completed at the rear of the engine house at East Third and Pine streets, Portland, Ore. The tower is the height of a four story building. Reports state the village of New Haven, Mich., part of which was destroyed by fire some months ago because of lack of fire protection, has now purchased a fire engine and a volunteer department is to be organized at once.
