COMPRESS AT PINE BLUFF DESTROYED The Pine Bluff Compress, located just beyond the city limits at Pine Bluff, Ark., was completely destroyed on November 39. The building occupied approximately one block and a half and was one story in height; built two years ago. The walls were of brick, iron clad. It had partition walls but no sprinklers. The fire started at the center of the length of the building to one side, and was discovered by a negro employee who sent in the alarm at 3.30 a. m. It was stopped in the building in which it started after burning three hours. When the department arrived the entire building and contents were ablaze, no hydrants were available and the nine firemen, under Chief A. C. Breiner, did excellent work but to no avail.
