FIRE DEPARTMENT DOINGS The Langhorne, Pa., fire company has formally housed a new chemical engine. Fire Company No. 4, of Garfield, N. J., has removed to new quarters in a two-story building erected on the River Drive. At the annual election of David Crockett Steam Fire Company of Gretna, La., R. B. Hock was elected president, and H. H. Gautier. foreman. The Llanerch, Pa., fire company have collected sufficient funds for the erection of a proposed new $12,000 fire house. The construction of the building will begin next March. The volunteer fire department of Muscatine, Ia., has been formally abolished and a paid department has been substituted. Two additional pieces of motor apparatus have been purchased. The cornerstone for a new central fire station at Phoenix, Ariz., was laid recently, brief speeches being made by the mayor, by Chief Wright and by President Schott, of the Volunteer Firemen’s Association.
