New American-La France Motor Triple Combination Pumping Engine at Bay City The new $10,000 type 19 motor triple combination pumping engine recently delivered to Bay City, Mich., by the American-La France Fire Engine Company, has been placed in commission after it had been submitted to tests that were the most severe that could be imposed and the result far exceeded the guarantee of the manufacturers and the expectations of those who witnessed the demonstration. The engine has a guaranteed capacity of 1,000 gallons of water per minute. During ten consecutive hours’ service on Wenonah park an average of 1,056 gallons of water were pumped from the river, the lift being nine feet and ten inches, which is considered a very remarkable feat.
