Business Building in Ladoga Destroyed A three-story business building, occupying one-half block, in Ladoga, Ind., was totally destroyed recently by fire. The loss was $76,000. The building was occupied by the L. Bischof Big Store, drygoods and clothing; harness and shoe repair shops, and the office of the Ladoga Canning Company. The basement and first floor were all afire when Chief E. C. Barnes and the department arrived and the flames ate their way rapidly to the upper floors, gutting the interior of the building until, as shown in the illustration, only two walls, with two girders across them at the top, remained standing. The department had twenty men, two hand engines and one chemical, in service. Two engine streams, with 2 and 3-inch nozzles, were on the fire. Twenty firemen, under Chief Barnes, were at the fire.
