WATER RATES Hummelstown, Pa., will increase its rate. Glen Ridge, N. J., has made reductions in its rates of $2 per 1,000 cubic feet up to 10,000. and 1.90 over. An order has been issued by the Public Service Commission allowing the Charlestown, W. Va., Water Company to increase its rates. The meter rate in Indianapolis is 18 cents a thousand gallons, where but a comparatively small amount of water is sold by meter. The rates are much higher than the rates charged in most cities. At Easthampton, Mass, the sliding scale of rates proposed for this place are: First 40,000 cubic feet, 12 cents for 100 cubic feet; for next 40,000 cubic feet, 9 cents a 100; above 80,000, 7 cents.
