The Department at Everett The fire department of Everett, Wash., consists of twenty-six full paid men. There are four companies housed in three stations and the department is completely motorized, having five pieces of motor apparatus. The chief of the department is W. A. Taro, who has served in the department fourteen years and was appointed chief six years ago. The assistant chief is C. E. Swanson, who has been a member of the department ten years. All appointments to the department are under civil service regulations. The companies are Truck 1, Engine 2, Hose 1 and Hose 3. Everett, which has a population of 34,000, has the commission form of government and the commissioner of public safety has control of the Health, Police and Fire Departments.
