Retirement of Chief Ferber, of Scranton

Retirement of Chief Ferber, of Scranton Chief H. F. Ferber, of the Scranton, Pa., fire department, retired on April 1, and is succeeded by Peter J. Rosar, who has been his assistant. Chief Rosar has been in the department for eighteen years, serving under both the volunteer and paid departments. In December last, Mayor E. B. Jermyn wrote to Chief Ferber, suggesting that he could ask to be placed upon the pension list, inasmuch as he would have rounded out 50 years of service in the department in the year 1916; and on March 25 Chief Ferber wrote to Mayor Jermyn a letter, in the course of which he said: “After mature deliberation, I have concluded to adopt your suggestion and hereby formally in accordance with the ordinances regulating the same, ask to he retired from my position as superintendent of the Scranton fire department on a pension.
