New York Firemen Thank Commissioner for Extension Courses A committee of firemen waited on Commissioner Adamson upon the close of the Fire College extension courses last week, to thank him in behalf of the uniformed force, for giving them the opportunity to receive free of charge from their own chief officers instruction in the performance of their practical duties. One of the committee, who has been in the service seventeen years, said it was the first time in his experience the average fireman had the chance to be taught modern scientific methods of fire fighting by his superior officers. The College extension courses were inaugurated on March 22 by Commissioner Adamson for the specific purpose of giving men eligible for promotion to the rank of Lieutenant a chance to study under Department asupices.
