Chief Byron of Troy Celebrates Birthday Auniversary Chief Patrick Byron, of Troy, N. Y., who has been in command of the Troy Fire Department for over a quarter of a century, was seventy years old on April 21, and he received many congratulatory calls, letters and telegrams and many floral tokens of esteem. Among those who sent messages of congratulation from other cities were Chief W. W. Bridgeford, Albany; Chief T. F. Ryan, Syracuse; Chief T. C. Collin, Cohoes and Battalion Chief Shields, of Albany. Chief Byron was born in Ireland, April 21, 1841, and with his parents moved to Cohoes when he was four years old. He soon removed to Albia, and on December 25, 1859, joined the Hope Steamer Company. So for more than fifty-six years the Chief has been connected with the Troy department. He became affiliated with the Osgood Steamer Company, and held several offices, including…
