ELIZABETH FIRE DEPARTMENT IMPROVEMENTS The board of fire commissioners of Elizabeth, N. J., consisting of Robert L. Patterson, Frederick Bender, Frederick Kurtz, Charles S. Chandler and Otto Wagner, state in their report for the year ending December 31, 1915, that the recommendations in Chief Gerstung’s report “are worthy of attention, being intended solely for the improvement of the department and the benefit of the city,” and that they are pleased to report that the completion of the new fire house on Third street for Engine Company No. 5, and the placing of said company in service at these quarters with its new motor apparatus, together with the removal of Engine Company No. 3 from Centre street into its new quarters on High street, and the substitution of motor apparatus for the horse-drawn in this company, materially strengthened the equipment of our department and brings its efficiency to a higher standard.…
