Kyd, Superintendent of the Butte Water Company, has been elected vice-president of the Montana Society of Engineers. A. Tonkle, former superintendent of the water works at Alliance, O., has accepted a position with the Morgan Engineering Company. Chief Kimball, of Salem, Mass., has appointed Captain James S. Koen deputy chief at a salary of $1,400 a year. Koen received the highest mark in a competitive examination taken by four captains. Walter A.
