ARTESIAN WELL AT SOUTHERN METHODIST UNIVERSITY AT DALLAS The Southern Methodist University is located on high ground, approximately five miles north of the main business district of Dallas, Tex. Before work was started on Dallas Hall, the first building constructed, a deep well was drilled to the Woodbine Sands. Water from this well was used in the construction of the buildings and for a short time after the opening of the University. The amount of water furnished by this well was small, and was of a very poor quality, it was decided in the spring of last year that it would be necessary to have a more adequate as well as a more potable water supply for the University.
