FOREST FIRE ALARM SYSTEMS. With the adoption of electric telegraphs and general use of telephones there is no reason why a great reduction in the number of forest fires should not be apparent every year. An important move has been made by the New Jersey Department of Conservation and Development in that State which will no doubt be followed by similar improvements in other parts of the country. The New York “Sun” comments on the New Jersey system in the following manner: “A telegram from Trenton, N. J., tells of an arrangement just made by the Department of Conservation and Development in that State with two telegraph and telephone companies by means of which forest fire calls can be answered more promptly.
