QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS The following was among the questions asked at the extension courses of the New York Fire College, with answers by fire department engineers: Question. You are the officer in command of a hook and ladder company, first due on first alarm, and respond to a fire in a planing mill; the mill is 4-story high, 50 ft. by 90 ft. The fire broke out on the 3rd floor where there was considerable quantities of dressed lumber. After the fire has cooled down you are directed by the battalion chief in charge to start in to overhaul the lumber. What would you do? Where would you put the partially burned lumber?
