WATER RATES An ordinance changing the water rates to ten cents per cubic foot was passed by the Council of Cambridge. Mass., recently. The business men of Norfolk, Va., have appointed a committee to confer with the City Council over the possibility of finding means by which lower rates may be obtained. It is believed that a new schedule of rates for Buffalo, N. Y., will be ready by September 15, on which date an ordinance covering the subject will be submitted to the Council for a hearing. It is probable that a rate schedule higher than the present one will be adopted. Mayor Kiel, of St Louis, Mo., has signed the water rates hill, recently passed. as amended. The bill in its original form required a hose license at all premises where there were threaded faucets, on which hose could be attached. The amended bill requires a license only…
