Motor Apparatus in Service at Utica In the Utica “Daily Press,” Utica, N. Y., of July 12th, the following article entitled, “One Year of Auto Apparatus,” appeared relative to motor fire apparatus in service in that city: Chief D. J. Sullivan and Deputy Commission Bennett express themselves highly pleased with motor apparatus—combination pumping engines put in service a year ago. Motor apparatus has proven itself to be far superior to horses during the one year that it has been used to any extent in the Utica fire department. It is exactly one year ago this month that two new gasoline pumping engines, or combination pumping engines and hose carts, were placed in service at Engine Houses Nos. 4 and 5.
