THE LESSON OF THIS ISSUE. This issue contains much of interest to those connected with the fire service, as it commemorates the Forty-fourth Annual Convention of the International Association of Fire Engineers. As the years roll along it is interesting to note the march of progress made each recurring year in the line of improvements in fire department methods and equipment, and the beneficial effect the rules of fire prevention has produced upon the communities where they are observed. New York City alone is a notable instance of the good results obtainable by the observance and obligations governing the prevention of fire where a large reduction in the loss of 1915 has been recorded. So with the progress in all things that have gone to keep down this Unnecessary waste by fire, including the most important, that of fire department equipment.
