Lumber Building Destroyed by Fire at Wilbur The office and store building of the F. R. Woodbury Lumber Company, at Wilbur, Wash., was recently destroyed by fire. That large quantities of lumber, located in the yard adjoining the building, were not also destroyed was due to the efficient work of Chief J. McPherson and his department. The burned building occupied a space of 60 by 100 feet, was 2 1/2 stories high and was built of wood, 12 years ago. Spontaneous combustion is thought to have been the cause of the fire. Owing to the construction of the building, the flames spread with such great rapidity that upon the arrival of the department it was already impossible to save the structure. Chief McPherson and his men devoted their energies to saving adjoining property with splendid results, for no damage was done to either the lumber or neighboring buildings. The fire…
