Lumber Yard Fire at Traverse City. A wooden structure, one and two stories high and one hundred and fifty feet square, in the business section of Traverse City. Mich., was damaged by fire recently. The building was forty years old and the cause of the fire is unknown, ft started in the rear and was discovered by a passerby. The alarm was sent in at 9.15 p. m., and a rear lumber yard and the building were already all afire upon the arrival of the department, commanded by Chief T. C. Murray, with thirtyfiremen with two American-La France steam engines and one motor chemical wagon. Chief Murray worked skilfully and had four engine streams and eight hydrant streams on the fire which burned four hours and did $3,000 damage to the building, valued at $8,000 and $4,000 damage to the contents, lumber and machinery, valued at $5,000.
