Business Block Damaged at Lapeer The Armstrong Block, at Lapeer, Mich., was recently damaged by fire which started at 1.45 a. m., from an unknown cause. The building was two stories high and occupied a space of 90 by 115 feet. It was 25 years old and was constructed of stone, brick and wood. Upon arriving at the fire, the Lapeer Department found the building filled with smoke. Chief Henry Smith and his men worked with skill and succeeded in saving a large part of the building ar.d its contents from destruction. The building, valued at $25,000, was damaged to the extent of $8,000, while the loss on the contents, which were worth $38,000, amounted to $30,000. Chief Smith had fourteen firemen at the blaze. Six 4-inch double hydrants were available for service, at which there was 70 pounds pressure. These hydrants were located 250 feet apart. One thousand feet…
