THE WATER WORKS SYSTEM AT HAVERHILL The total water consumption in Haverhill, Mass., for the year ending November 30, 1915, was 2,092,913,989 gallons, according to the Water Department’s annual report for that year. The average consumption was 5,734,011 gallons, being 110 gallons per day to each inhabitant, 125 gallons per day to each consumer and 781 gallons per day to each tap. The estimated population supplied is 45,850. The total of distribution mains in use is given as 114.62 miles and the number of hydrants in use is 440. Of these 38 were added during the year. The number of service taps is 7,704, of which 285 were added during the year. The number of meters added was 203, the total number in use being 2,288.
