Water Rates at Newburgh

Water Rates at Newburgh City Manager Wilson, of Newburgh, N. Y., has made an investigation of various water systems and finds that Newburgh is furnishing water at a lower rate than many other cities and he thinks that the water rates should be increased to a point somewhat nearer what these other places arc charging. At a meeting of the council he proposed to the council that the water rents for next year should be increased 100 per cent, on toilets and baths. The subject was laid on the table for four tweeks, the City Manager in the meantime to prepare a statement for the council showing the necessity for the increase and the amount of income the change would bring to the city.
