FIRE AND WATER ENGINEERING Chief William Meier of Escanaba, Mich., has prepared an interesting repoft showing that the motor fire truck purchased by the city a year ago was a profitable investment to the city. The truck has traveled 53 miles in the year and the gasoline used cost $60.94, oil, supplies and repairs brought the total cost up to $81.34 for the year. As against the cost of the fire truck, the two teams of horses maintained by the city for fire purposes cost the city $299.70 each, or a difference in cost between the upkeep of the truck and that of one team of $218.36. The truck for October cost $3.51 to operate.
