METERAGE Last year the county supervisors of Elmira, N. Y., had a contract with the water department of that city to furnish water for all county buildings at a flat rate of $340 per year irrespective of the amount of water used. This year that contract will not be renewed by the water commissioners, it is said. Meters have been installed on county property and hereafter all water used will be charged up and paid for on the basis of the amount used. Several meetings of the building committee have been held at which General Manager Beardsley, of the water board, was present. However, the rate to be charged the county has not been agreed upon, but it is expected that the new contract will shortly be perfected and submitted to the board of supervisors foi approval.
