A Rate Controller for Filters A patent, Serial No. 858,940, has been filed at the United States Patent Office for a device for providing a uniform flow of raw water into a filter bed from an outside source, river, etc. It is designed to provide means for stopping the flow of water when the level of water in the filter bed arises above a definite point. The device contains the following parts: An opening containing a variable opening valve, a floating chamber with a connection with an upstream passage of water containing a hollow float with openings for flow of water to downward position of the stream. The float is connected with a valve to regulate the flow of water from the float chamber when the water in the filter bed falls belows a certain depth.
