WATER WORKS NEWS ITEMS The city Board of Health of Cedar Rapids, Ia., recently made a report stating that, although 600 houses were connected with the city water mains during December, the daily consumption of water during that same period of time decreased 1,404,000 gallons. The city of Sandusky, Ohio, has recently made a formal request of the State Board of Health that an engineer be delegated to that city to investigate the sources of city water pollution. For some time complaints have been made as to bad taste and odor of the city water. Thomas J. McCormick has been appointed to the office of Superintendent of Water Works at Yonkers, N. Y. He was appointed by John Brady, Commissioner of Public Works, and was approved by Mayor Lennon. Superintendent McCormick was at one time warden of Sing Sing.
