Superintendent John Mahan Resigns Superintendent John Mahan, of Bennington, Vt., has tendered his resignation to the board of water commissioners, to take effect February 1st. Mr. Mahan has recommended that Grover Lyons, who has been his assistant during the past year, be appointed to fill the vacancy. Mr. Mahan has been superintendent of the water system since the property came into the possession of the village through the gift of the late Henry W. Putnam, three years ago, and had previously been with the Bennington Water Company in a similar capacity for about a dozen years. While with the water company and since he has been superintendent for the board of water commissioners, Mr. Mahan has been recognized as an exceptionally capable and conscientious official. He said he desired to retire from a position which required more constant attention than he felt able to give it.
