New York Firemen’s Pension Fund

New York Firemen’s Pension Fund Fire Commissioner Adamson has sent to Mayor Mitchel of New York City the annual report of the Fire Department Pension Fund for 1916. There was an increase of 150 in the number of pensioners during the year, and $106,126 in the annual pension roll. The total pension roll on January 1st last, Commissioner Adamson reported, was $1,233,122.99. Funds for paying this large sum each year are provided by a certain percentage of the excise tax, by proceeds from combustible and explosive permits issued by the Fire Department, by fines, by foreign fire insurance taxes and from other sources. The firemen and the Fire Prevention Bureau came to the rescue of the Pension Fund this year by a display of unusual energy in inspecting all of the places where combustibles and explosives are stored and requiring these places to take out the necessary legal permits.
