Westfield Department Report Chief Thomas H. Mahoney, of Westfield, Mass., in his annual report for 1916, which was recently issued, made the following recommendations: An increase in pay of $50 a year for the call men of the department, and an improved lead cable for the fire-alarm system. The call men now receive $100. There are now forty call men in the service. A new car for the chief is also suggested, and a new central fire station and 1,000 feet of hose. An aerial ladder is also equipment the department needs for future use. More permanent men are wanted to keep pace with the growtli of the town. The fire loss for 1916 was $39,040, with more than $12,000 of that amount outside the water limits. The value of the buildings endangered was $370,950.
