METERAGE The Badger Meter Manufacturing Co., of Milwaukee, Wis., has been awarded contracts for furnishing the cities of St. Paul, Minn., and Reading, Pa., with water meters, covering 1917 requirements. At a recent meeting of the village board of Cornwa!l-on-Hudson, N. Y., it was brought out that plumbers have been in the habit of breaking the village seal on meters when called in for repairs. It was decided to notify the plumbers that this was a violation of law and that no seal placed on a meter should be disturbed in future until permission was obtained from the proper officials. It has been suggested that the meter readers in the water department of the city of Springfield, Ill., act as fire inspectors while making monthly visits to basements in the downtown d strict of the city.
