Long Distance Water Level Recorders For city water works, power plants, pumping stations, there is a growing demand for a device to record or indicate in some central station the water levels from remote reservoirs or streams. Such devices have heretofore been almost prohibitive on account of the cost of special line wiring. Stevens’ long distance water stage recorders and indicators have lately been improved to operate over any existing telephone line without interference to either service. The accompanying figure shows the sender which is placed over the water and the recorder that is placed in the office or central station. An indicator suitable for switchboard installation may, be substituted for the recorder. The device is operated electrically on the open circuit principle, ordinary dry cells furnishing sufficient current for the purpose.
