FIREWORKS PERMITS. Fire Commissioner Robert Adamson, of New York City, has revoked all permits for the sale of fireworks in New York City and has asked every city in the United States with a population of ten thousand to take similar action. Although New York City has had a safe and sane Fourth of July for several years, various fireworks firms have continued to hold permits for the sale of fireworks in this city. In recent years these permits have been granted on condition that no fire works be sold for use in the city. It has, however, it is stated, been impossible to strictly enforce this condition. If the Commissioner’s plan is adopted by the rest of the country the use of fireworks in the United States will be brought to an end during the period of the war.
