Editorial In commenting upon the success that has attended the installation of meters in many of the large buildings in Pittsfield, Mass., where the Board of Public Works had decided to ask the City Council for an appropriation for installing meters, and that the Board were convinced that public sentiment was in favor of further meterage, and that city officials were also convinced of the wisdom of extending the system, a local newspaper recently said that a purpose of water week was to demonstrate whether the consumers would or would not voluntarily reduce the amount of water consumed and that there is nothing to indicate that there is anything to be hoped for from that quarter and that there is not a city official who is not convinced that the present supply of water cannot be made to meet the requirements of forty thousand people except under the general meter…
