Inn Damaged at Concord A serious fire that recently took place in the Concord Inn building at Concord, Cal., was handled very skilfully by Chief C. W. Klein who prevented the fire from spreading to adjacent blocks. The Concord Inn block is located in the center of the town and occupies a space 150 by 215 feet. It is a two-story brick and concrete structure with brick and wood partition walls. The fire stated shortly after midnight and was discovered by a cook in the Inn who notified the manager of the Inn who gave the alarm by the ring of a bell. Chief C. W. Klein found a blinding smoke issuing from different parts of the building and he placed nine hydrant streams on the fire. The guests barely escaped with their lives and lost their belongings.
