ACTIVITY IN PUBLIC IMPROVEMENTS. The signs that municipal improvements of a necessary character, such as water works, continue, notwithstanding war conditions, are as encourging as they are positive. The current news brings word of bonds being issued in all sections of the country for the installation and improvement of water systems. Among the latest of these instances which indicate the continuance of such work is that Indianola, Neb., has issued bonds for $22,800 for a water works system, and others arc that a bond issue for extending the water works system of Mitchell, Nev., was carried at the recent election there; that Laurel, Mont., has sold $4,000 of bonds for improvements to its water works. In many other places improvement work is going on. The City Water Company of Chattanooga, Tenn., has inaugurated improvement to the supply system that will cost approximately $115,000, according to a recent announcement made by…
