Waterbury, Conn., Fire News The Board of Aldermen of this city recently adopted a resolution providing for sufficient funds to enable the firemen to enjoy an additional 25 cents a day, beginning July 1. That is to say the aldermen arranged it so that the Board of Public Safety could make the daily pay of each private $3.50 per day, with $3.75 for lieutenants and $4 per day for captains. The salary increases provide $3,000 per annum for Chief Henry Heitman, $2,000 for Deputy Chief Chas. M’Evoy, and 25 cents additional each for the other members of the department. Provision has been made by the municipal authorities of the city for the construction of a new fire station in the northeastern part of that city.
