Meters in Springfield

Issue 1 and Volume 62.

Meters in Springfield “The placing of meters on such municipal services as the funds of the water works have allowed to date has resulted in a more careful oversight and control of such uses by the city officials in charge of same, in some cases reducing the quantity of water used or wasted by more than fifty per cent.,” declare the Water Commissioners of Springfiel, Mass., in the annual report for 1916. “The installing of meters on other municipal services,” continues the report, “such as those for parks, fountains, fire stations, etc., would undoubtedly be followed by similar results.”
