WATER RATES City Council of Bessemer, Ala., is considering a proposition of the Bessemer Water Works to reduce rates 20 per cent. The Board of Education of Lawrence, Kan., will be asked to pay 10 cents a thousand cubic feet for all water used in city schools after September 1. The property of the Seymour (Ind.), Water Co., is being appraised preparatory to the bringing of a petition before the public service commission for lower rates. Charges that an increase of rates by the Berlin, Pa., Water Company amounting to almost 200 per cent. are unreasonable and excessive, have been filed with the Public Service Commission. Mayor McIntyre, of Rensselaer, N. Y., is about to start a campaign to reduce water rates in that city. The minimum present rate is $2.25 for each three months for household purposes.
