Luitwieler Fire Pump Shows 82.8% Efficiency Under Big Overload On Thursday last the Luitwieler fire pump, manufactured by the Luitwieler Pumping Engine Company, of Rochester, N. Y., was tested at the repair headquarters of the New York Fire Department. A representative of the Westinghouse Electric Manufacturing Company recorded the readings on the electrical equipment and a representative of the pump company, in the presence of members of the New York Fire Department, made the pump readings. Two tests were conducted: The first with a discharge pressure of 58 pounds per square inch. The pump, known as the Luitwieler No. 610 triplex doubleacting, is rated at 210 gallons per minute at 65 pounds pressure. The first test showed the following: Engine pressure, 58 pounds; r. p. m. of pump, 90; pump discharge, 218.7 gallons per minute, the displacement revolution being 2.43 gallons.
