Garage in Upper New York City Wrecked by Fire and Explosions A building occupied by the Alhambra Garage Company, at 65-67 West 118th street, New York City, was wrecked by fire one night recently, about one hundred and fifty automobiles being destroyed. Whether the Haze was started by lightning or spontaneous combustion could not be determined. Forty cars were stored on the fourth floor of the building, and it was there the fire was discovered. The flames shot up the fifth floor and then went down the large elevator shaft to the third floor. Automobiles are stored on all five floors and it was impossible to move a car above the ground floor because the elevator shaft was immediately a furnace and there was no way to get the cars out except down the elevator.
