The Portraits of Chiefs Prominent in the Service

Issue 22 and Volume 62.

The Portraits of Chiefs Prominent in the Service The portraits of the chiefs on the following pages are of those who have been prominent in the fire service not only on account of the length of time they were in charge, but owing to the active part they took in all matters connected with the management and discipline so successfully established in their own departments, and also the general interest they showed in the advancement of the science of fire protection and extinguishment during their busy administrations. “By their deeds shall ye know them.” Then these men and those who lived contemporaneously with them shall be known in history not only as eminent in their callings while they ruled, but for the bright examples they established for those they left behind to follow.
