METERAGE The Village Board of Silvis, Ill., have decided to have meters installed. A hearing was given recently in Boston to parties interested in a petition for installing meters in the city. Superintendent Walter Brandon, of the Anderson, Ind., water works, will place all services on a meter basis as a means of reducing water waste. An ordinance is before the Harrisburg, Pa., council, that meters must be installed at once by all water users not now metered. A loss to the city of New York of millions of dollars in water revenue is involved in an application that has just been made on behalf of the William Waldorf Astor estate asking that water meters shall be taken out of five apartment houses it owns and the water rates therefor assessed upon a frontage basis.
