Stubborn Fire Controlled by Good Work at Miami A colored porter discovered some baled paper and excelsior on fire on the third floor of the drygoods store of S. H. Kress & Co., in the center of the business section of Miami, Fla., in a packing room at the rear of the floor, at about 5 p. m. recently, and an alarm was at once turned in. On the arrival of Chief W. R. Coleman and his department of thirty men it became at once evident that the greatest danger was at the rear of the third floor, and Chief Coleman directed his principal efforts to that portion of the building. The fact that the fire was confined to the third floor showed the wisdom of this course and the good work done by the department in subduing the blaze.
