PRAISE FOR GOOD WORK BY FIREMEN. It is seldom enough that the public gives expression to a realization of the brave work done by members of fire departments and this lack of general appreciation of risking their lives is frequently seen when a question of increased pay comes up, so that it is of real interest to note that in commenting on the excellent work done by the Johnstown, Pa., fire department at a recent fire, a bank cashier, Mr. David Barry, discussed that very point. Mr. Barry said he had heard a good deal of criticism about firemen wanting raises in wages and so on, but that after the work he had seen those men perform there that day he would say that “the best is none too good for them.” Here is real and well deserved praise, the kind that realizes that such good and brave work is…
