WATER RATES A 25 per cent, increase in water rates is reported at Brantford, Can. Noank. Conn., is receiving water through its new system. The supply is ample and of improved quality. A schedule of rates has been in preparation for a new meter basis of charge for water and applications for the installation of the meters have been received from residents. Outremont, Can., wants its water rates fixed by arbitration between the city and the Montreal Water and Power Company. The city council passed a resolution authorizing the city solicitor to take action to force the arbitration. A recent order of the Pennsylvania Public Service Commission as to the charges made by the Springfield Water Company, contains a clause which affects subordinate consumers.
