The Whigville and Burlington Water Supply of New Britain There seems to be some doubt whether the proposed Burlington tunnel to supply New Britain with water will be built, after all. At a meeting of the council recently the matter was thoroughly discussed and the tone of remarks of the committee members indicated that the tunnel will be dug only as a last resort, if at all. The object of the plan is to increase the water supply of the city of New Britain and the tunnel will cost about $325,000 with an expenditure of a like amount in purchasing the rights of properties necessary in the tunnel work. Maps of the Whigville and Burlington sections were presented and the investigators were guided in their discussion by the maps. A member advanced a proposition whereby the supply of the Whigville brook, Fall brook and Wild Cat brook may be garnered…
