Hotel Burned in Bryan Fire that destroyed the Central hotel, situatcd just east of the business district in Bryan, Tex., and damaged other buildings in the same block, gave Chief C. E. Jenkins and his force of men a busy two hours recently. The hotel, reconstructed a few years ago, was of lumber on brick, with wood partitions. The fire started in the dining room in the rear from some unknown cause, about 2.17 a. m. An alarm was at once telephoned, but as the building was without private fire protection, the entire first floor was involved when the first apparatus arrived. One American-LaFrance combination chemical and hose car and one American-LaFrance horse drawn hose wagon did good service under the skilful direction of the chief.
